Choosing your shutter colour

January 31, 2024

Choosing the right colour for your window shutters is a big decision. The advantage of shutters is that they are long lasting but this means you need to think carefully about their colour. You have to ask yourself not only whether they will fit with the current style of the room but if they will still compliment your décor in years to come.

With this in mind neutral shades such as white and grey are a popular choices with our customers. They can be used to blend in with your current colour scheme and will fit in with any design changes you make in the future. White is often in demand because is it co-ordinates well with any design and gives a clean and fresh look.

However, more daring colours can be used to create a statement feature in a room. Coloured shutters make a great alternative to a feature wall and can create a fabulous focal point.

The colour of your shutters can be based on a colour that is already included in your room to create a cohesive look. For example, you could match your shutters to your kitchen cabinets or take a tone from within a wallpaper pattern.

When picking your colour also think about the mood you want to create. For example, sociable living areas might benefit from energetic colours such as deep red or orange but for rooms that require a calmer atmosphere, blues or greens may be better options.

You can look at magazines and social media channels such as Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. Our social media feeds show recent work we have completed which can help you see real life examples to help guide you.
